Satake is a world leader in colour sorting and optical sorting technologies for product purity and security. Our equipment is used to remove defective and foreign material from products such as rice, wheat, maize (corn), beans, pulses, all types of nuts, coffee, seeds, plastic pellets and plastic granules. Our fastest machines are capable of sorting at more than 30t/hr.

In Australasia, we have an extensive base of installed equipment, with over 150 machines operating in the region. Back-up and support is provided by technicians and spares stock holding in Sydney.

No two products are the same; no two defects are the same. For this reason, Satake offers a choice of sorting equipment and technologies, allowing us to tailor a machine selection to your exact needs.

Full-colour RGB sorting

Satake’s Evolution RGB and CS belt sorters use our patented full-colour sorting technology. Full-colour cameras use three wave lengths, which are R (red), G (green) and B (blue), to detect and reject material of different colour or, importantly, similar colours, but different shades. The Evolution RGB platform uses a completely new LED illumination and background lighting system. Setting the machines is performed using real full-colour images captured by placing good or defective material through the machine’s viewing area. Evolution RGB and CS truly are state-of-the-art.

Tri-chromatic and bi-chromatic sorting

Satake’s near infra-red (NIR) equipped sorters view in both monochromatic ‘visible’ light and NIR wavelength(s) simultaneously. NIR can be used to remove defective and foreign material that is the same visible colour as the good product. Examples include clear glass in white rice, brown stones in peanuts, mould damage in almonds, cob in maize (corn) grits, etc.

Foreign material can react differently to varying NIR wavelengths and therefore our tri-chromatic machines sort in either two different mono wavelengths plus one NIR or one mono plus two different NIR wavelengths at the same time. Our tri-chromatic technology has an enviable reputation in the nut sorting industry, in many cases completely removing the need for manual inspection tables.

Monochromatic sorters

Satake’s CCD monochromatic sorters are the workhorses of the sorting industry. Using high-resolution cameras, monochromatic sorters can remove a range of defects from granular products, such as black seeds and white heads in wheat, mould damage in pulses, miscoloured flakes in PET and burnt material in flaked breakfast cereals. Their low cost with high capacity is replacing traditional mechanical separation methods in many processing plants.

Granular material handling, milling and processing experts

Satake Australia offers comprehensive in-house design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning services. Our corporation’s capability in the construction of rice mills, flour mills, animal feed mills, pulse processing plants and other associated handling plants make us the experts in granular material handling, milling and processing.
