ColorMatrix Corporation (‘ColorMatrix’), the leading global innovator in advanced performance additive, colorant and dosing technologies for the thermoplastic industry, has announced its acquisition of Gayson Silicone Dispersions (‘Gayson’ or ‘GSDI’), based in Barberton, Ohio. The move supports ColorMatrix’s ongoing expansion into new markets and technologies through internal R&D and acquisitions, while also enabling the extension of its application capabilities.

Gayson is a leading specialist in dispersions (colorants and additives) for silicone rubber. The company supplies manufacturers across diverse industries including automotive / aerospace parts, airbag coatings, healthcare, cosmetics, household and architectural products. Now, customers in these industries will benefit from ColorMatrix’s industry-leading technical expertise and global reach.

John Gelp, CEO of ColorMatrix, comments: “Highly respected in markets previously not served by ColorMatrix, Gayson is a great asset to our expanding technology portfolio. The company combines expertise in liquid colour dispersions and colour matching with a strong commitment to efficient, flexible customer service. It also has a lean and sustainable approach that is aligned to ColorMatrix’s operations. As such, it is the ideal partner for us both technologically and strategically. Gayson will retain its own name and management team while working closely with ColorMatrix to strengthen our technical capabilities across new and existing markets.”

Bob Bradley, co-owner of Gayson, says: “We’re very excited to be part of the ColorMatrix group. Our position as a world specialist in high consistency rubber (HCR), liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and room temperature vulcanisation (RTV) silicone will be further strengthened by ColorMatrix’s R&D talent and global reach. This acquisition will enable GSDI to improve its current technologies and develop silicone rubber dispersions to meet our customers’ future requirements. Also, ColorMatrix’s global presence will help us better service customers with operations beyond the United States, where we see huge growth potential.”
