Sustainable aluminium packaging solutions provider Ball has established a joint venture (JV) intended to accelerate the growth of its Aluminium Cup category.
The JV, dubbed Oasis Venture Holdings, is a collaboration comprising Ball and Ayna.AI, an advisory and implementation company in the industrial technology space.
Ayna will hold a 51% stake in the JV while Ball will own the remaining 49% interest.
The JV will assume control of Ball’s Aluminium Cup operations, encompassing its commercial, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
The segment’s plant in Georgia, US, will serve as the primary headquarters for the JV.
Ayna CEO Gaurav Batra said: “The Ball team’s exceptional work, combined with our unique engaged operator model, will drive even greater success for the Aluminum Cup, unlocking new opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Ayna.AI, as the JV’s majority stakeholder, will focus on expanding the brand’s customer base while Ball will remain involved as a minority investor to provide ongoing support.
Under the management of Oasis Venture Holdings, the Aluminium Cup brand is set to be strategically positioned for growth, market diversification, and innovation.
Ball has reassured its customers that the changeover will have no impact on existing orders, affirming that continuity of supply and high standards of customer service will be maintained throughout the transition.
Ball Growth Ventures senior vice-president and president Jay Billings said: “In 2019, Ball made a strategic decision to expand the company’s offering by adding the Aluminum Cup to our portfolio, allowing Ball to create a new category for aluminium packaging.
“We believe that partnering with Ayna, with its deep expertise and experience in this space, is the natural next step in our transformation as we continue to bring best-in-class innovative products to our customers.”
Ball has a history of JVs, which includes examples such as the heritage glass business from the late 1980s and early 1990s, as well as its partnership in Ball Metalpack.
In November 2024, Ball acquired Alucan, a European supplier of extruded aluminium aerosol and bottle solutions.
