Swedish company Billerud, specialising in sustainable packaging materials, has launched a recyclable, heat-sealable paper solution intended to replace plastic in packaging solutions that require strong sealing performance.
The company said ConFlex HeatSeal has a smaller carbon footprint and serves as an alternative for businesses aiming to replace plastic packaging while continuing to use their existing machinery and maintaining operational efficiency.
Billerud further noted that its ConFlex HeatSeal solution has been launched in the bedding sector by a leading Swedish furniture brand, with its potential reaching well beyond, extending to various applications in industrial and hygiene packaging.
Billerud paper business area vice-president Robert Torstensson said: “With ConFlex HeatSeal, we offer a commercially viable, heat-sealable paper that supports businesses to transition away from plastic.
“It delivers strong sealing performance and recyclability within existing paper recovery systems and works within slightly modified converting processes where Billerud provides transition support.
“It’s great to see how we live our purpose to make high-performance packaging materials for a low-carbon society through innovation.”
In December last year, Billerud teamed up with Industrikraft to increase Sweden’s capacity for producing competitive fossil-free electricity.
Industrikraft functions as a joint platform for Swedish industrial companies to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply.
The platform promotes conversations around financing and developing the country’s future energy system.
