US-based packaging solutions provider Harpak-ULMA has unveiled the FM400 horizontal flow packaging machine for high-speed modified-atmosphere packaging in fresh food applications.
The FM400 is engineered to produce up to 150 packs per minute, offering airtight packaging that extends product freshness and shelf life.
The machine features a long-dwell sealing head with an advanced orbital movement mechanism, ensuring hermetic seals at high speeds.
Its stainless steel construction and vertical plate design meet stringent sanitation requirements, facilitating thorough cleaning with hot water and chemicals.
The machine’s external electronic components are rated IP66 or higher, offering enhanced protection against water and dust.
The packaging equipment is said to have been designed to offer multiple configuration options such as top reel, bottom reel, and side seal versions.
It is compatible with various barrier films, including laminates and shrink films, to cater to a range of packaging needs while improving product presentation and protection.
Operators can manage the FM400 via a 10in colour touchscreen with an intuitive interface, customisable help features, and easy navigation.
The machine includes optional tools for analysing energy and material consumption, aiding producers in their cost and sustainability efforts.
Harpak-ULMA noted that the integration with MES, ERP, and SCADA systems ensures the FM400 synchronises with wider production workflows, enhancing visibility and enabling data-driven management.
