Koehler Paper, part of Koehler Group, has launched a new paper packaging solution for the ready-to-eat (RTE) meals provider pack&satt.

For creating this packaging solution, Koehler for the first time used its NexPlus Advanced flexible packaging paper.

The company said that its packaging paper offered effective protection for ‘einpott’ RTE meals because of its ability to block oxygen, mineral oil, and grease.

Koehler Paper flexible packaging paper products business development head Alexander Rauer said: “When developing ‘Koehler NexPlus Advanced’ flexible packaging paper, the focus was on making it recyclable and ensuring it would provide outstanding product protection.

“As a result, the paper can be recycled conventionally and reused frequently.”

pack&satt offers its products in three flavours, namely Tomate Linse, Curry Linse, and Rote Bete Kartoffel.

The company initially used returnable jars for packaging its ready-to-eat meals.

However, feedback from customers and an in-depth product review led the RTE meal maker to look for alternative packaging solutions.

pack&satt founder Sophie Gnest said: “Our customers frequently told us that if they had an electric kettle, that meant that they also had bowls or cups available, making the jars redundant.

“And on top of that, we found out that using paper instead of glass to hold dry product would improve our environmental footprint!

“Given all that, we were tremendously happy when we found Koehler and saw that they offered the right packaging material for our needs.”

Earlier this month, Italian organic pasta brand IRIS Bio selected Koehler Paper for its flexible pasta packaging paper.

This was the first time pasta was packaged in Koehler Paper’s NexPlus Seal Pure.

NexPlus Seal Pure is a heat-sealable paper, which is claimed to extend shelf life and protect contents.
