American automated packaging company Massman Companies has acquired ADCO, a privately owned company located in Sanger, California, US.

ADCO, which was established in 1958 by John and Babe Tanney on the outskirts of Sanger, is known for its expertise in packaging machinery.

The company delivers end-of-line packaging machinery and collaborates with its customers in the consumer packaging space for the creation and implementation of solutions for their operations.

The acquisition will expand Massman’s product offerings in both primary and secondary packaging, in line with its goal of offering automation throughout the entire packaging process.

Massman Companies president and CEO Jeff Hohn said: “ADCO and Massman share common company family values focused on customer success, employee wellness, and their commitment to providing the Best Running Machine in the Factory.

“We are excited to welcome ADCO employees to Massman Companies and look forward to being able to provide more solutions to our customers with this partnership.”

With the addition of ADCO, Massman’s portfolio now includes a diverse range of packaging equipment, including tray formers, sleevers, shrink wrappers, bundlers, and more.

ADCO CEO Kate King said: “We are excited to be joining Massman Companies. ADCO and Massman have had a long successful business relationship that will allow us to accelerate growth rapidly through this partnership.

“Massman’s commitment to our brand, site, and our employees made this a natural fit for ADCO’s next chapter.”

Massman’s brands offer equipment for various industries and an array of applications. These brands include Massman Automation, EDL, Ideal Pase, DTM Packaging, and New England Machinery.

In January 2023, Massman acquired US-based Ultra Packaging, a designer of automated machines for cartons.
