Auto components manufacturer Motherson has forged a joint venture (JV) with Japan’s Sanko to deliver sustainable packaging solutions across India and Europe.

The JV is poised to introduce solutions tailored for the automotive and nonautomotive sectors, according to a Press Trust of India report.

This initiative combines Sanko’s engineering prowess and Motherson’s network in India and Europe.

The JV is claimed to offer greater efficiencies in material handling with cost reduction in overall logistics spending.

Motherson chair Vivek Chaand Sehgal was quoted by the news agency as saying: “We believe that reimagining packaging as an engineered solution versus a simple commodity can bring immense logistics, cost, and value efficiencies to supply chains.

“We see this collaboration as another way to support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals.”

Sanko manufactures plastic material handling products, catering to an array of industries.

Sanko president Toshihiko Goto said: “We believe we can contribute more to Motherson’s and our valuable customers by combining Motherson’s strong global presence and our long experience and rich expertise in the sustainable packaging solution business.”

Motherson Group serves its customers with various products and services via its 12 business divisions.
