Packaging solutions provider NBCo has unveiled the Fast Forward 50 initiative, aimed at supporting brands in transitioning from single-use plastic to more sustainable fibre bottles.

The initiative is said to have been designed to offer high-performing alternatives to traditional plastic packaging.

The fibre bottles, created by NBCo itself, are claimed to have been created using a combination of bamboo and bagasse.

These materials have been chosen for their durability and barrier properties against moisture and oxygen.

The bottles are said to have undergone testing and have been certified as both recyclable and biodegradable, aligning with brand requirements for sustainability.

To encourage adoption, NBCo is offering complimentary fibre bottles to the first 50 brands that join the initiative.

Each brand will receive a 200ml bottle to assess product compatibility.

The bottles are deemed suitable for a variety of contents, including both liquids and powders, and have been certified as safe for food contact.

NBCo showcased the solution at this year’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland.

The company’s approach to decentralised manufacturing is expected to foster circularity and maintain shorter supply chains, contributing to overall sustainability goals.
