Global rigid packaging distributor Novvia Group has completed the acquisition of MegaChem in North Carolina, US, for an undisclosed sum.

MegaChem specialises in pails and drums, alongside a variety of other rigid packaging products.

It caters to a wide range of customers, spanning multiple industries and regions.

MegaChem owner Richard Lewis said: “We are excited to partner with the Novvia team to share in our mutually aligned vision of growth. We look forward to leveraging the resources of the national Novvia platform to continue to deliver value to our customers.”

Lewis will continue with Novvia to support business growth and manage daily operations.

Backed by Kelso & Company, Novvia was established in 1979, and since then has expanded and now operates from a 45,000ft² facility in High Point, North Carolina.

This acquisition strengthens Novvia’s footprint in the Southeastern US and enhances its industrial vertical.

Novvia executive chair Ken Roessler said: “I have followed and admired the MegaChem business for many years and am delighted to have them join Novvia.

“We look forward to working with Richard and team to continue to solidify our position in the Southeast market and expand their unique offerings across our network.”

In January this year, Novvia agreed to acquire Saxco International, a provider of rigid packaging for the food and beverage sector.

Saxco International caters to more than 5,000 wineries, brewers, distillers, and speciality food and drink manufacturers across North America.
