End-of-line packaging solutions provider Pacteon Group has planned to introduce its new packaging automation solutions at Pack Expo International 2024.

The event will be held in Illinois, US, from 3 to 6 November 2024.

The new solutions are expected to improve Pacteon’s ability to deliver integrated solutions for a broad range of packaging needs.

Schneider Packaging Equipment, a company of the group, will reveal an innovative system designed to automate the process of case erecting, taping, and palletising, at Booth S-3300.

The Collaborative Case Erector-Palletizer combines an Anubis 3D Industrial Solutions Automatic Carton Erector end-of-arm tool with Schneider’s Fanuc CRX-25iA robot platform.

Anubis 3D has crafted the dual-purpose end-of-arm tool to pick and form cases, thereby eliminating the need for a separate forming fixture.

This lightweight tool enables rapid, toolless changeovers, achievable by one operator in under five minutes.

The system aims to reallocate labour to more productive tasks and minimise repetitive motion injuries.

Schneider Packaging director for R&D Jamie Barber said: “Our adaptable new system consolidates case erecting, taping, and palletising for a broad range of case sizes and weights. Zero-programming setup is quick and easy by just entering the case sizes.”

Descon Conveyor Systems, which was acquired by Pacteon in June this year, will also exhibit its integrated Single-Lane Empty Can Vacuum Transfer with Laser Coding and Code Inspection, at Booth S-3300.

This solution ensures high-quality, reliable laser coding of empty cans in a dry area of the production facility before rinsing.

The vacuum conveyor holds the empty cans by their tops, allowing them to pass over a gap for accessible laser coding.

With single-lane can travel, the system also offers the option of adding quality inspection after the vacuum transfer.

Rates have been thoroughly tested, with solutions operating in the field at a rate of 1,800 cans per minute.
