Seda International Packaging Group, a provider of sustainable foodservice packaging solutions based in Italy, has introduced the EcoFit Lid, a new paper lid designed to replace traditional plastic lids for beverages.

The company claims that its EcoFit Lid offers a secure fit for both hot and cold drinks, featuring a spill-resistant design and an audible snap that confirms a tight seal with the cup rim.

Seda added that the EcoFit Lid is a flexible solution available in both flat and domed styles, with various sip-hole designs and opening mechanisms to customise the consumer experience.

Seda emphasises the lid’s use of 100% certified renewable fibres, which, combined with the company’s advanced printing technology, provides significant branding opportunities.

The business claims that the EcoFit Lid has the lowest environmental impact in its category, with minimal carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and water usage throughout the supply chain.

It noted that the lids are fully recyclable and also come in a compostable version, contributing to significant reductions in fossil resource depletion, saving 400 tons of plastic for every 100 million lids produced.

The EcoFit Lid is also part of a larger sustainable packaging solution when paired with Seda’s Double Wall cups, which are made from the same material and designed to enhance the drinking experience.

Seda Group Innovation, R&D, Materials, and Sustainability director Armando Mariano said: “Our new EcoFit Lids and compostable Double Wall cold cups underscore Seda Group’s dedication to continuous innovation and sustainability.

“These products were designed with the future in mind, addressing environmental concerns and evolving consumer demands. By significantly reducing water consumption and CO₂ emissions, our EcoFit Lid sets a new benchmark in sustainable beverage packaging.”
